Fall at Studio Rewind

We have been busy with Studio Rewind, and also just life in general.  It is one of the busiest times of the year for me at work, but as of the end of the work day today things are starting to slow down and it will be a gentle slide into the winter holidays :)

What a start we have had to the fall.  Our little "shop" is up and thriving, changing and shifting every week.  We have been busy out on the trail, snooping around to find new pieces of ephemera and fascination for our space.  We have been to Gardner, Atchison, Parkville, Topeka and right around here in Overland Park hitting several auctions and digging around in dusty little shops.  Throughout the blog you will see pictures of some of our favorite finds.

We have increased the ease of our expeditions by purchasing a Ford XLT Transit ~ no more having to stop by Uhaul every Saturday morning to grab a trailer for my car.  Our excitement about our new adventure is spreading to all parts of our lives.  We have even been investigating purchasing a building in the West Bottoms, so we could rent out the bottom two floors and then create a magnificent loft on the upper 2 ~ who knows??  Come spring it will either be that or a move to Lawrence, so life is good either way!  We love our space at "Rag and Bone" and plan to stay there into the foreseeable future ~ it is a cool space full of interesting people, music, art and stuff.

I added my first piece of original art work to the space last Friday, and it sold so fast that by the time I thought to go back and take a picture of it, it had already sold!  YAY!!!  I was delighted to say the least, Trey and Ella had to listen to more than their fair share of joyful trilling.  So, I am going to be taking in two additional pieces to the shop over the next few weeks and then start some new pieces whenever I can find the time.  25% of all the proceeds from my art will go to organizations that help women leave abusive relationships and/or educate young women on how to recognize and leave abusive relationships early in the cycle.  I am happy to have a way to share my art with others and to help organizations that I believe in ~ it is one of my favorite aspects of having a little space.

We hope that all of you out there are having a great start to your fall.  That you are staying cozy and enjoying yourselves as the days turn frosty and the trees turn grey.

Trey, Ella and I will be staying in this weekend.  Cleaning and organizing all of our latest finds.  I hope that the next time I post, I will be sharing some "before" and "after" photos of some up cycled pieces and maybe even a collage or two.

In the meantime, we will be at the shop the Saturday after Thanksgiving working from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and would be happy to see any of you during that time frame!

Peace to you all and happy weekend from Studio Rewind ~
